To the Friesenbergsee and Petersköpfl
Description
Mystical place of power with panoramic views
Our hike first leads over the foaming Alelebach stream and through a rustic pine forest up to the Friesenbergalm. We continue along the stone-paved path into the valley of the Lapenkarbach stream. Here we see the historic Friesenberghaus for the first time. From the refuge, we continue on to the picturesque Friesenbergsee lake, which is often covered in snow and ice well into the summer. The Petersköpfl lies above the Friesenberghaus at an altitude of 2,679 meters. On this summit there is a whole army of cairns, so-called “Stoanmandln”, whose origin and meaning are the subject of numerous stories. In combination with the lake, this is one of the five most beautiful panoramic views in the Zillertal Alps! After a leisurely stop at the Friesenberghaus, we hike back to the Schlegeis reservoir along the same route.
